Lang Lang Piano Concert, The Performing Arts Center, Purchase College

I just got back from a Lang Lang piano concert at SUNY Purchase, and the performance was top notch. I was in the fourth row, and he played with great dexterity. He had the entire program memorized (no sheet music) and so, he knew the music very well. His playing was very focused with lots of energy. Most of the works he played were upbeat and positive. I enjoyed the concert so much that I purchased a copy of the Lang Lang Memory CD. This CD covers the majority of the evening's program. If you like classical concerts, I highly recommend you see one of his shows.

Here is the program:

Mozart Sonata No. 10 in C major, K. 330

Chopin Sonata No.3 in B major, Op. 58

Schumann Scenes from Childhood, Op. 15

Rachmaninoff Prelude in B-flat major, Op. 23, No. 2

Rachmaninoff Prelude in G minor, Op. 23, No. 5

Liszt Petrarch: Sonnet No. 104 from Annees de Pelerinage, Bk. II ("Italy")

Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2

Encore

Moonlight Reflection on the Lake (a Chinese work)

Second Encore

Year of the Dog/Happy Holidays (another Chinese work)

Lang Lang is a great performer, an expert at the piano, and a pleasure to listen to. Here is a link to his website: Lang Lang
